World Biodiversity Day - introducing Armenia's reach species diversity
The Public Lecture took place on 22nd of May in Impact Hub and introduced Armenia's rich bird species diversity, as well as threats to the birds and possible solutions.
Our Action of 26th of May resulted in collecting of waste from Barakaghbyur gorge at Dashtakar village. In total we have cleaned up 1.63 square kilometers of the land. Over 30 participants have been actively involved and have collected over 40 bags of thrush. We have separated plastic from the other waste, so it can be recycled.
Also we had wonderful opportunity of observing White Storks with the nestlings, Rollers, which have been making pair, Kestrels, which have been searching for the nesting place, Hoopoe which was feeding incubating female, Rock Sparrow, which occupied nest of Eastern Rock Nuthatch, and many other things.
The Action is a continuation of the World Biodiversity Day - which was celebrated on 22nd of May, and was supported by The Armenian Branch of the German Nature Protection Union (NABU) , as well as by Yerevan State Pedagogical University and Ayntap Secondary School.
